Today’s episode is all about running a podcast and publishing more than 100 episodes. What does that take? What does it look like? What sort of results can you expect? Wow – that’s a lot of questions. Let’s take a quick look at it and see what our journey was like.
Before we get started, I want to set the scene. The very first episode we recorded was with the team at Social INK. We didn’t have a name for the podcast. No Website. No domain URL. NOTHING.
The only thing we knew was that we wanted to start, record and publish a podcast within 30 days. Yep, that’s right. That’s how we started. If you’ve followed Social INK over the past couple of years, you’ll have seen some of our crazy internal challenges. This was no different.
The reason I’m being a bit nostalgic and going back to this is simply to reinforce this.
“Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can!”
Arthur Ashe
I love this quote. And we live by it! Sure, since then we’ve moved the needle. The podcast audience is growing, slowly but surely. The production quality is getting better. It’s all about small incremental improvements.
So, if you’re thinking of starting a podcast, I’ll leave you with what Eugene Kan said to me in Episode 10.
“If you weren’t getting paid for it, would you want to keep doing it?”
Eugene Kan
If the answer is yes, then you know what you need to do. Whether it’s starting a YouTube channel, running a podcast or writing blog posts, it doesn’t matter. You’ll be amazed how quickly a year will pass, and suddenly you’ll be hitting milestones too.
I hope you all stay safe.
Enjoy!
